Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. The Rheged Centre, Penrith, is at the northern gateway to the English Lake District, has a vibrant arts and family events programme and welcomes 450,000 visitors every year. Our cafes at Rheged which serve local seasonal produce. Rheged is a family business which is rooted in Cumbria and it’s also a building of architectural merit, with one of the largest grass roofs in the country.

Lake District Gyroplanes is based at it’s own airstrip at Berrier just a couple of miles to the north of Ullswater.
