Our lakeside dining room provides Ullswater’s ever changing dramatic view as it’s backdrop; otters are known to swim by, and the roar of Red Stags in Autumn drifts down off the fells. Nestled in the seclusion of 12 acres of tree fringed, waterside gardens, you really are far away from it all, wrapped in Ullswater’s majestic scenery with instant lake and fell access and the promise of escape and adventure.

Only minutes from Penrith and the main West coast transport links, we’re a magical step back in time to a timeless unchanged Lake District.

Sharrow Bay epitomises the best of what makes a Country House Hotel. Retaining all the charm of its original Victorian architecture and eclectic antiques collections, it has been nurtured gently, and sensitively updated to provide the fitting contemporary facilities expected by discerning guests. The Main House provides the centre for all our hospitality, with its comfy lounges, dining room, and six bedrooms. The Garden Rooms, sitting just 100m behind the Main House provide a further six rooms or suites, with lake views and an elegant terrace from which to enjoy them in fine weather. The Gatehouse Lodge is at the entrance to our grounds, 400m from the Main House facing out over sweeping fells or farmland down to the tree lined lake. All rooms have separate seating areas, including the pet friendly rooms.

Gift Voucher Terms & Conditions

Each gift voucher features a unique reference number with an expiry date, may only be used once, may not be exchanged for cash or replaced if lost and is non-transferable. The reference number should be quoted at time of booking and the voucher must be presented at the hotel on arrival.  For some dates and special events, we do not accept vouchers, for example Christmas Day, Valentines Day etc.  Please enquire at the time you call to book.  The terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.
We welcome children over 12 years of age, and small beds can be added to some rooms on request.
